Welcome to WAGS Retired Police Dog Charity
Caring for the heroes who once protected us
WAGS supports retired police dogs from the Wiltshire, Avon, Gloucestershire & Somerset (WAGS) Police Forces, giving them the happy, comfortable retirement they truly deserve.
Every day, these incredible dogs put themselves in harm’s way — tracking offenders, protecting officers, and searching for vulnerable people. They never hesitate to serve.
But when retirement comes, there’s no pension for these heroes.
Their medical bills and care costs fall entirely on their handlers or adopters.
That’s where WAGS comes in.
We step in during times of need — helping with unexpected vet bills and emergencies so that no retired police dog’s future is decided by cost.
Because after a lifetime of courage and loyalty, these dogs deserve nothing less than love, comfort, and peace.
How You Can Help
Your support makes a real difference.
Every donation helps ensure our retired police dogs receive the care they need in retirement.

The Trustees of WAGS are absolutely delighted to have Alex Lovell as our Ambassador (@alexlovelltv) Alex is a local newsreader and is very passionate about our police dogs. We are honoured to work alongside Alex supporting our retired police dogs in Wiltshire, Avon, Gloucestershire & Somerset.
Alex states “I have been following the work of WAGS on social media for some time and was over the moon when they asked me to be their ambassador. Police Dogs give their lives working to keep us safe. It’s the least we can do to look after them in retirement”
